garden -- dig it! January 2009 After refreshments and several raffle drawings, Deanna Flintzer (bottom middle), a Rosarian from The Rose Society of Saddleback Mountain shared her rose knowledge with us before joining in to help with the annual pruning.

Bill Jensen was the guest speaker and after discussing espellier and topiary, he asked for volunteers to create spiral topiaries. Paddee Neff and Amy Inoue were glad to volunteer and Harriett added her expertise. Below are pictures from Bill's garden in San Clemente. An apple tree espellier, a fig tree espellier and a reproduction of a 15th century knot garden. Bill and his wife own the Garden Cottage B&B where the main suite overlooks the knot garden he created. page.) Harriett Behrens created this magnificent center piece to highlight the delicious food. We had a great turnout which included many visitors and two mew members. Amy presented the Golden Glove Awards and Teress Weber shows off the new hand book created by Jane Strait. Club member, Darla Miller and fellow Master Gardeners, presented a program on composting. Crest will assist with funding the De Portola Elementary School Garden.
